'Tis the season to be jolly with all these fun events going on this month

  • December 1

    • Olde Fashioned Christmas – Downtown Palisade

      • Evening of Friday, Dec. 1st during the day on Saturday, Dec. 2nd. There will be parades, cookies, music, Santa, photos for free, crafts and much more! Visit this website http://palisadecoc.com/olde-fashioned-christmas/ for more details about the events taking place for both days!

    • CO2: International Poster Biennial Exhibit – The Art Center

      • The premier poster exhibition on the Western Slope. The exhibit will run from December 1, 2017 – January 20, 2018. Includes a variety of graphic designs from around the world, and four internationally known designers: Richard Bailey and Lukas Paltram from London Based design firm Dalton Maag, Christopher Scott from Ecuador, and David Voss from Germany will all be coming to Grand Junction! Free admission. Hours: First Friday Reception from 5-7 pm on December 1st, Regular Hours are Tuesday – Saturday from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

    • First Friday Art Reception at the Art Center – Western Colorado Center for the Arts 1803 N 7th Street

      • Opening reception for three new exhibitions! The Rosewood Trio will be performing music, there will be free snacks, cash beer, and a wine bar. This event is Free and open for everybody! Hours: 6:30-9pm

  • December 2

    • Candy Cane Hunt! – Lincoln Park Barn 910 n. 12th Street

      • There will be crafts, cookies, and cocoa! Mesa County Library will perform a holiday themed puppet show, MJ Thomas Photography will capture family photos with Frosty the Snowman (packages starting at $15). There will also a Mascot Run right before the candy cane hunt! Free admission, HOURS: begins at 10:00 a.m. and the hunt will be at 11:00 a.m.

    • Breakfast with Santa! – Dinosaur Journey Museum 550 Jurassic Court, Fruita, CO

      • Fun event with dinosaurs and Santa Clause! There will be a holiday performance. Space is limited and registration and payment are required before the event! $8.00 per person

    • Parade of Lights – Downtown Main Street

      • The main event during the Holiday season is when over 100 floats light up the night down Main Street. Hours: Begins around 5 p.m. THERE WILL BE NO PARKING AFTER 3 PM ON SATURDAY, AND FROM 7TH TO 9TH STREETS WILL BE RESERVED FOR HANDICAP PARKING ONLY!

  • December 4

    • Rocky Mountain Christmas – Grand Junction High School

      • John Denver’s Christmas music comes to life through Jim Curry! Admission: Adults: $25, Students: $15. Hours: 7:30-10:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.

  • December 5

    • Dinner, Shopping, and a movie Elf – Avalon Theatre 645 Main Street

      • If you shop or dine downtown anytime on Tuesday and take your receipt to the Avalon Theatre, you can watch the movie for free! One admission for every $5 spent. Receipts must be the same day and date. If you do not have a receipt but would like to watch the movie still, it will cost $7. Elf is rated PG (mild rude humor and language). A comedy for kids and family, approximately 1 hour and 47 minutes long.

      • This Tuesday will be A Christmas Story – rated PG, a comedy drama for kids and family, approximately 1 hour and 33 minutes. Same rules apply, must dine or shop the same day and show receipt for proof of day and date. Every $5 is one admission, and with no receipt, admission will be $7. Movie begins at 7:30 p.m.

  • December 15

    • Opening Day at Powderhorn! – Powderhorn Mountain Resort

      • Officially opens for the season!

    • Frost – A Winter’s Tale – Avalon Theatre

      • Western Colorado Dance Theater will be performing a magical dance! Anna, Elsa, and Olaf will be there to tell the story of two sisters and an act or true love! Admission $12-$20, Hours: Friday and Saturday at 7 pm / Sunday at 2 pm

  • December 16

    • Santa Clause Run 2017 – Las Colonias Amphitheater

      • The Kiwanis Club of Grand Junction and Grand Junction Parks and Rec. teamed up to help raise money to build a all inclusive playground at Sherwood park! Admission is $30 for adults, Hours: 1k – 10 am / 5k – 10:15 am

  • December 19

    • Dinner, Shopping, and a movie – Avalon Theatre

      • This Tuesday will be Die Hard – rated R, adventure and action, approximately 1 hour and 44 minutes. Same rules apply, must dine or shop the same day and show receipt for proof of day and date. Every $5 is one admission, and with no receipt, admission will be $7. Movie begins at 7:30 p.m.

  • December 20

    • Cookies N Clause – A movie and story time with Santa – Fruita Community Center

      • Listen to a story, have a snack with Santa, and watch a kid-friendly movie! Bring a blanket and pillow, wear your pajamas! Free admission but pre-registration required, Hours:  6 pm

  • December 26

    • Dinner, Shopping, and a movie – Avalon Theatre

      • This Tuesday will be Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring – rated PG 13, adventure and action, approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. Same rules apply, must dine or shop the same day and show receipt for proof of day and date. Every $5 is one admission, and with no receipt, admission will be $7. Movie begins at 7:30 p.m.

  • December 29

    • Much Ado about Murder – Garfield’s Restaurant 2148 Broadway

      • An audience interactive show for the entire family to enjoy! Eat a yummy buffer with dinner and dessert while solving a murder! Try to win the best deputy prize at the end of the mystery! Admission: $27.50 December 29 and December 30 -  Hours: 6:30 to 8:30 pm

  • December 31

    • Downtown Countdown with Fuel – Two Rivers Convention Center

      • Platinum recording artist Fuel will be performing with Dead Cowboyz! There will be VIP seating available with a New Year’s Eve swag bag, assigned seats and access to the private bars! Admission: $50-$70, Hours: Doors open at 6 pm. Show is at 8 pm.
